Medical Missions Red Carpet Awards to Benefit Miami Charity Jose’s Hands and Celebrate Local Philanthropists with Beauty and Fashion Exhibitions

Celebrating Miami’s overall beauty, good health, and fortune, medical and lifestyle organizations joined forces on October 18, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Hyde Beach in the SLS Hotel South Beach. They paid homage to those who have contributed to medical missions abroad, the 1st Annual MEDDY Awards is Miami’s largest medical missions fundraiser (and celebration), and benefited Jose’s Hands, a Miami-based non-profit that enables medical students, doctors and nurses to serve in underprivileged areas.

Presented by PhilanTropic Lifestyle, the charity marketing agency founded by philanthropy veteran Jonathan Babicka, and hosted by NBC 6 reporter Kelly Blanco, the event featured contemporary fashions in a style and beauty exhibition, created to inspire the night’s exclusive guests.

Luxury salon Warren-Tricomi Miami Beach and celebrity-endorsed fashion brand Kymerah will team up with the modeling talent of Quintessential Promotions to create a heart-warming fashion experience, rewarding attendees for their contributions.

About Jose’s Hands

José Jamil Miranda was a U.S. Army Major and orthopedic surgeon; a Yale M.D. graduate and also earned his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. He was known for his selflessness and willingness to give and serve with competency and devotion. Before his sudden passing in October 2008, Jose had reportedly envisioned a medical mission project, which was brought to life by his brother, Alex Miranda, the now Executive Director of Jose’s Hands.

Jose’s Hands introduces volunteering medical students to medical missions in underserved and underrepresented communities abroad, exposing them to various foreign social, cultural, and health conditions facing a developing world community, and encouraging them to build and sustain a lifelong involvement in philanthropic medical service.
