The CAP Challenge is a national movement where athletes, teams, school and sports leagues, of all ages across all sports, take action to make concussion safety their top priority to be #CAPSAFE.
Founder of CAP, Lindsey Berman, Mrs. South Florida International, is passionate about keeping our kids safe by spreading awareness and education for preventable injuries. It is during her tireless work, she learned of Dave Duerson’s Athletic Safety Fund, Inc and since has been even more inspired to make a difference. It is through her partnership with the Dave Duerson Athletic Safety Fund, that Lindsey has been able to bring her dream of starting the CAP Campaign to life. Michael Duerson along with his wife, Lori, and a team of volunteers run the organization in memory of the late Dave Duerson, an All-American safety in the NFL who has earned many honors including being a 4x Pro Bowl Selection, NFL Man of the Year and a 2x Super Bowl Champion. Dave spent his career with the Chicago Bears, NY Giants and Phoenix Cardinals. Dave Duerson suffered from multiple concussions that caused many hardships for him in his life after football, and his brother Michael, today, also suffers from the effects of a serious concussion sustained while participating in university level sports. All of this drives their passion for concussion education, detection and treatment.
