birdcage-groupFort Lauderdale FL – November 29th, 2016 – The Unicorn Children’s Foundation held its first ever cabaret-themed role reversal drag show at LIPS in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is pleased to announce that it was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS!  More than $32,000 was raised to help kids with special needs excel in our community.

Guests were treated to an amazing evening that started with an absolutely delectable assortment of hors’ d’oeuvres and continued with mouthwatering dinner options, courtesy of the talented Chef and cook staff at LIPS.  While guests enjoyed their repast and drinks, Event Chairman Max Tucci along with Unicorn’s President Gregory Fried (Gregory’s Fine Jewelry), Unicorn’s vice-president John Sternal (Merit Mile), Ash Ruiz (Menudo, pop male music group) and Boca Raton City Council Member Robert Weinroth transformed into dazzling Divas and absolutely stunned the audience with individual performances that were also interspersed with acts by the talented and amazing LIPS Divas.

Gregory Fried, Unicorn’s very own President, ended up with the most votes and was not only bestowed the title of ‘Queen of the Night’, but was also awarded the uniquely beautiful and coveted Stiletto Trophy.   Proceeds from “An Evening at the Birdcage” will help expand opportunities for neuro-diverse youth with special needs like Autism, Dyslexia and other learning disorders.

“We are so thrilled with the great response to this fun event”, said Sharon Alexander, Executive Director of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation. “We could not be more proud of our special guest divas with big hearts, generous sponsors and the one and only Lips, all of which helped make this such a success.”

A big THANK YOU to our 5 leading men and sponsors: Backer Aboud Poliakoff & Foelster, LLP, Tara Ink, Inc., Tish Kitch Photography, Simply the Best Magazine, Wick Theatre & Museum and Eye on South Florida.  Finally, Unicorn wishes to thank LIPS for their excellent service, venue, and show.  Please join us for next year’s event at LIPS on November 19, 2017, which will feature the theme ‘Kinky Boots’ – More information TBA.
