Winterfest Boat Parade
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Winterfest Boat Parade is now in its 42nd year as South Florida’s preeminent family-friendly holiday tradition and fundraiser for community good. But for many folks, the attraction of Winterfest can be captured in three words: “Host Lynn Martinez.” The WSVN anchor, who has led the TV coverage of the event for more than a decade, is a chatty metaphor for what many locals love about Winterfest: the smart waterside parties, the stylish glamour and the saucy irreverence.
The Mac Daddy of Florida boat parades is a community-wide event, from the family fun of the holiday festival and bleacher seating at Birch State Park, to the more urbane alternatives found during the dock party behind the Riverside Hotel. And then, there are the quasi-official and elaborately planned house parties that occur in yards and balconies all along the New River and up the Intracoastal. When the weather is right, there may be a no more beautiful and relaxing place to be. Unless you’re a caterer. The next one will take place Dec. 14.
