You are guaranteed to experience nightmare-inducing scares from start to finish. 

Alley of Darkness

If walking through a dark haunted house is too extreme for you, but you still love the thrill of getting scared by strangers, Alley of Darkness, the latest Replay pop up, is perfect for you. Located in an alley near the red line, you can now experience this drive-in haunted house. Although you are safe within the confines of your car, this does not mean you’re safe from heart-dropping jump scares. First, you’ll watch a movie to set the narrative, then you will be hit with horror from all angles (literally, your car will be covered in blood).

This haunted house is open seven days a week from 5 pm-11 pm. It is priced at $75 per car. No car, no worries! You can use a rental car, sanitized between each use, for an additional $25. 

13th Floor Chicago

5050 River Rd., Schiller Park, IL 60176

Looking for scares, games, good eats, and alcohol. Look no further! 13th Floor Chicago is the perfect spooky date spot or a fun night out with friends. Take a walk through Outcast Carnival and All Hallows Eve, but beware of the rabid clowns lurking in the darkness. You can even add mini escape games to your experience for just $5.

Check out the beer list from Short Fuse Brewing Company, spooky cocktails from Hala Kahiki Tiki Bar (must be 21+ with valid ID), and gourmet Italian food from D’Capos. The 13th Floor is open until November 5th with a covered lot for parking and valet services available.

Nightmare on Clark St.

Calling all Wrigleyville lovers and thrill seekers. Nightmare on Clark St, located in Deuce’s Major League Bar, now offers a terrifying Haunted House experience. Enjoy one of their Halloween-inspired cocktails on the bar’s first level and take the journey upstairs to their immersive haunted pop-up, if you dare. Tickets are available now through October 31st. 

Basement of the Dead

42 W. New York St. Aurora, IL 60506

Now until November 5th, you can visit Buzzfeed’s and Cosmopolitan’s #1 Haunted House. Put your scare threshold to the ultimate test in Basement of the Dead’s hour-long haunted experience. You will experience over 45,000 square feet of blood, gore, and horrifying scenes that will surely haunt you until next October. 

This year, the 15,000 sq. ft. Basement of the Dead/Shattered 3-D Haunted House was overtaken by new evil spirits. Come see for yourself if you can withstand the added horrors. You can also check the calendar for other events taking place this month. 

Hells Gate

01 W. 2nd Street. Lockport, IL 60441

Arrive at the lot, located 5 minutes away from the haunted mansion, buried deep in the woods. There is a shuttle that will take you to your destination. Be careful what you wish for, you may immediately regret your decision upon reaching the property. 

HellsGate is a mansion filled with secret passages, giant slides, undead abominations, and creatures lurking in the darkness the gate cannot keep out. Now accepting visitors until November 5th. 

Midnight Terror Haunted House

5520 W 111th St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453

Veteran-owned and operated for 20 years, Midnight Terror Haunted House is now open until November 5th. They have specialized in the industry for two decades and have mastered giving their guests a heart-racing experience. You will explore the darkest chambers of the factory with actors waiting in every shadow. 

Feeling brave? Come explore the multitude of twists and turns that span over 26,000 square feet. 

Fear the Massacre

299 Montgomery Road Montgomery, IL 60538

One of Midwest’s scariest attractions is the Massacre Haunted House and Fear Freakshow 3D Haunted House. Each year they expand and build new sets to increase the intensity of the experience. You can expect 2022 to be their scariest year yet. 

As seen in USA Today and the Chicago Tribune, this haunted house is critically acclaimed for its craft. Tickets are available for purchase until November 5th. 

Haunted House Disturbia

213 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515

Known for sending people running for the exit in fear, Haunted House Disturbia is sure to deliver on the scare factor. Now open, from 7 pm – 10 pm, see if you can stomach what they have in store. Wednesdays (Oct. 5, 12 & 19) are for “Nights of Isolation” where you and your friends get one Glowstick to make it through the abandoned underworld in total darkness, with full animatronics and whatever evil awaits. Check out special events occurring now until November 5th. 

Evil Intentions

900 Grace St, Elgin, IL 60120

Whatever you believed to be lurking under your bed as a kid holds no candle to the horror within the Evil Intentions haunted house. Make your way through decayed hallways and abandoned floors and beware of what stalks you in the shadows. Known as Chicago’s most evil haunted house, brace yourself for the unrelenting terror. 

Don’t let crappy weather deter you, their main wait line is indoors. Tickets are available now until October 31st.
