Driving up the entrance to the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, you feel the stress melting away. The gorgeous grounds across 1,300 acres, stables, and golf courses surround you, creating a perfect escape.
The resort is renowned as a spectacular weekend getaway from Chicago. Once part of Hugh Hefner’s expanding empire, it opened as the Playboy Club in 1968. The golf courses and ski hills remain in this idyllic lakeside setting.
The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has just undergone extensive renovations in their 356-room resort, including guestrooms, bathrooms and the lobby lounge. Public areas were remodeled in 2021 as well as its new outdoor seating area, the Landing, last year. All I can say is WOW!
The newly transformed guest rooms and suites feature a warm contemporary design, which complements the AAA Four-Diamond property’s serene woodland views.

The refurbishments usher in new levels of luxury for guests with clean, contemporary design and natural colors that bring a sense of the outdoor setting in.
Here you’ll discover cushy white linens on a platform bed that you sink right into. Marble baths with modern Kohler fixtures and soft towels add to the ambiance.
Contemporary amenities include built-in outlets and USB ports in the night stands, coffee maker with complimentary pods and a mini-fridge to keep your water bottles (and leftovers) cool.
Get a room with a balcony and you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the pool, water fountains and golf courses. You’ll have a front-row seat to the weekend fireworks display.

Dining Deluxe
The Geneva ChopHouse continues to dazzle diners with its exquisite menu of steaks and seafood. Tempura Cauliflower is a great starter with sweet chili and umami. Go with the New York Strip Steak, grilled to perfection or order the Skuna Bay Salmon, served with citrus-mint yogurt to balance the flavors. Perfect sides include marble potatoes, asparagus or King Crab with Lobster Mac. The piece de resistance for dessert was the New York Cheesecake with caramel sauce and berries. Let the Salted Caramel Ganache Chocolate Cake also tempt you.
Ristoranté Brissago is another choice which offers traditional Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist. Indulge in Italian seasonal favorites like Rigatoni al Ragu, Aragosta Tagliatelle and Bucatini Carbonara. Take a tour of Italy through their extensive wine list.
Start your day in the Grand Café with its sumptuous breakfast buffet, including made-to-order omelets. For lighter fare, order off the menu with Brioche French Toast, Chorizo Breakfast Tacos or Greek Yogurt Bowl.
WELLness is King
At the Grand Geneva, they offer the WELL Spa & Salon with Fitness Center in a separate building right across the street.
Indulge in a CBD Massage, Couples Massage or WELL Spa Body Ritual to relax and rejuvenate you. WELLness also offers facials, skin and other body treatments.
Tried pickleball yet? Here’s your chance to discover the hottest thing in sports. Pick up a paddle and a plastic ball with holes and hit it across the court. It’s easy and fun.
Are you up to the challenge at the indoor Climbing Wall? Basketball, tennis, free weights, and fitness classes round out the Fitness Center.
Access to Geneva Club Enhances Your Experience
Delicious fare await you at the Geneva Lounge. Photo courtesy of Grand Geneva.
As a desirable option, upgrade your stay with exclusive access to the Geneva Club Lounge, which includes morning breakfast, midday snacks, and evening Happy Hour. Enjoy a cool brew, catch a game on TV, or even get some work done at one of the workstations. We hung out in the Geneva Club even before we checked in.
Stay Active
Play golf, go on a White River Adventure Hike, or take a ride into Lake Geneva. Or sit by the pool and do nothing at all. That’s the beauty of a Grand Geneva getaway.
