The Banquet Tradition:
From its inception back on September 4th, 1977, the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of ASIS International has stood proudly beside police officers from all communities in Broward County. We have made the Broward County Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet an annual event to honor individual police officers who have excelled in their jobs and who have gone beyond the call of duty to protect our community, businesses, homes, and families.
We asked Broward County Sheriff’s office, each of the district chiefs, and all municipal police chiefs of Broward County to nominate candidates from their respective departments in any or all of the categories. Individual valor, extra
ordinary efforts, and selfless dedication to duty are the criteria for consideration. From these nominations, our Law Enforcement Committee will select one individual as our Community Oriented Policing Officer of the Year, one for Police Officer of the Year, and one for the Valor Award.
