The latest in the pop culture pop-ups has been announced. Head to Miami circa the 1980s and join everyone’s favorite quartet at The Golden Girls Kitchen. A detailed dining experience inspired by the iconic Miami hangouts and other memorable moments from the classic sitcom. With so much on offer, this just might be a pop-up that you do not want to miss!
After the pop-up had great success in Beverly Hills and New York City it is coming to Chicago, tickets went on sale on April 12th and the experience opens on Wednesday, May 10th. The experience will be a fast-casual restaurant with a focus on desserts of course.
What the Ticket Includes
Each ticket comes with a 90 minute reservation that has a guaranteed window of time, a choice of an entree, and the best part, cheesecake. The entree menu features the likes of Sophia’s Lasagna Al Forno (meat or vegan), The Lanai: A “Miami style” Cuban Sandwich, Blanche’s Georgia Style Cookie, and the Bacon Lettuce Potato Sandwich (Say it Fast). There will also be cheesecake in a variety of flavors. However, if you want to upgrade your dessert, try the Spierheoven Krispies (available in vegan) which includes strawberry cheesecake and chocolate ice cream.
On top of the dinner experience, the pop-up will come complete with a variety of iconic photo moments to immerse yourself in the world of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sofia. Sit around their kitchen table, get some sun on the Lanai, or snap a pic in front of everyone‘s favorite banana leaf print. A pop-up store will also be set up with a brand new range of “The Golden Girls” merchandise!
Event Info
The Golden Girls Kitchen will be located at Whiskey Business, 1367 N Milwaukee Ave. Tickets can be purchased here, starting at $40 for a single bar seat, tables for 3 or 4 people are available for $135, and tables for 5 or 6 people start at $225.
The hours for the event are:
Wednesdays-Thursdays: 2:00-10:30 pm
Fridays: 2:00-11:15 pm
Saturdays: 10:00 am-11:15 pm
Sundays: 10:00 am -10:30 pm
A Drag Brunch option will also be available starting every Sunday from June 4 through Aug. 6, the times will be 10 am, 10:45 am, 11:45 am, and 12:30 pm. The organizers have also said, “Join us for a special day of Drag performances on National Golden Girls Day, July 30th!” There will also be Golden Girls Drag Trivia at 7:15 pm, 8 pm, and 9 pm, on May 31, June 28, and July 26.
