The White Sox visit Target Field Monday afternoon to kick off a four-game series with the Twins, and honestly, weโll take any glimmer of hope we can get at this point. Bryse Wilson gets the start for us, and letโs just be honest about what weโre dealing with here. Wilson is 0-2 with a 6.95 ERA in 19 appearances this season. This is what happens when Aaron Civale gets claimed off waivers by the Cubs โ weโre left scrambling for anybody who can take the ball.
The Twins are going with Bailey Ober, whoโs had his own struggles at 4-7 with a 5.13 ERA. But hereโs the thing that hurts โ heโs 6-2 with a 3.43 ERA against us in his career. Of course he is.
The Betting Reality Check
Weโre getting +155 as road dogs while the Twins are heavy favorites at -190. Vegas is basically saying we have no shot, and honestly, with our road record, itโs hard to argue. The total is 9 runs, and most models think itโs going over.
One prediction has us losing 5-4, which would actually feel like a moral victory given how weโve played away from home this year.
Offensive Bright Spots (Yes, We Have Some)

White Sox Fan Reality
Look, weโre 19-46 on the road. Thatโs historically bad. But we did just beat the Yankees at home, which felt pretty good after the season weโve had. Maybe catching the Twins in an early afternoon game on Labor Day gives us a puncherโs chance.
Wilsonโs numbers are scary, but sometimes journeymen pitchers surprise you. And Oberโs been inconsistent this year despite his past success against us. If our hitters can work counts and get into their bullpen early, who knows?
