LOS ANGELES, CA (November 17, 2017) – Actors and activists Angela Bassett (American Horror Story) & Courtney Vance (The People v. OJ Simpson) were honored tonight at the 10th annual CARRY benefit at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, (Beverly Hills Ballroom), 9876 Wilshire Blvd. The star-studded event benefitted the prestigious C.A.R.R.Y. organization founded by esteemed celebrity dermatologist, Dr. Pearl Grimes. C.A.R.R.Y. is dedicated to improving the lives of foster and at-risk youth by providing life-changing social skills, scholarship programs, and pro-bono dermatological services.
Over 200 of Southern California’s most influential and socially conscious supporters will attend the organization’s annual fundraising event of the year in an evening hosted by talk show personality Rolanda Watts which will also honor Dr. Robert Blackman of HealthCare Partners Medical Group with the Lifetime Achievement Orchid Award. Celebrated Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra will serve as entertainment with a special appearance by legendary Grammy R&B artist, Thelma Houston (Don’t Leave Me This Way). Two dozenelebrities including Yara Shahidi (Black-ish), Michael Einzegir (Incubus),Donnell Turner (General Hospital), Kate Linder (Young & the Restless), Tasha Smith (Empire), Skyler Bible (First Man), Paige Mobley (America’s Next Top Model), Laura Goven (Basketball Wives), Veronika Obeng (Second Wives Club), Jason Moore (The Punisher), Kim Estes (Emmy winner), Brianna Barnes (Nocturnal Animals), casts of “The People v. The 10th annual C.A.R.R.Y. The Coalition for At-Risk Youth is an all-volunteer effort led by Dr. Pearl E. Grimes. In less than ten years, they have raised over $1 million, helped thousands of foster kids and sponsored hundreds with their unique programs devoted to build character and self-esteem for children via arts & crafts, entertainment, dance and horseback riding.
